A gathering ground for Conversation & Cuban FOod.
Our founders, Kay & Norberto, run a Cuban Supper Club at their home in Chicago one to two times a month in the summer and fall. Started before Otros Ojos was born, El Chorro Supper Club is named for a street in Havana where community gathers and shares art, music and food. These dinners connect people over food and open up dialogue about culture and views on how truly contemporary Cuba is today. Not surprisingly, it helped inspire what is now Otros Ojos.
Each dinner begins in the kitchen over Chicharitas (as all home meals do in Cuba). We play Cuban music, tell stories and serve a new menu each dinner that is filled with recipes from restaurants in Havana to old family classics. It’s a great way to meet new people, connect over good food and get a feel for what it feels like to join us in Cuba.
